Jon has a broad commercial practice that draws upon his experience in corporate financing, mergers and acquisitions, intellectual property, and securities. He has represented clients in acquisitions and divestitures, in the creation of new business entities, and in complex contractual negotiations. Some of his recent experience includes the representation of the shareholders of a Portland, Maine-based proprietary college in the sale of their business, the representation of an alternative energy project developer in negotiations with potential strategic partners, the representation of a wood pellet manufacturer with project structuring issues, the representation of a publicly traded company in the negotiation of the acquisition of power generation assets, and the representation of a consumer goods wholesaler in the sale of securities in a public offering. Jon also has significant experience with commercial matters, including the negotiation of complex electric power and natural gas supply agreements and financial derivative agreements.
Before joining Sheehan Phinney, Jon was an associate attorney in the corporate department of Pierce Atwood LLP. Prior to that, Jon was an associate in the corporate department of Ropes & Gray in Boston, where his experience included negotiating agreements for the provider of complex fulfillment services to the retail customers of major Internet companies such as Yahoo! Inc, Lycos, and Expedia.
Jon is fluent in Norwegian and speaks some German.
